Fractures

Traumatology is the part of medicine devoted to the diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal injuries, integrating not only the four limbs and waist anchor, but also the whole osteoarticular system, including the spine and muscle and tendon elements.

Hip fracture

Such fractures are common in older people and more often in women.
In most cases the patients are of an advanced age so it is best to get them mobilised quickly. For this reason surgical treatment is the best choice, either by means of nails, screws or by replacing the affected femur with a prosthetic part.
Hip fracture should be treated as soon as possible after the patient is medically stabilized and there are no secondary risks to medical treatment.
